pyshell has been deprecated upstream for almost a decade (or almost 5 years
when you filed this), and is actually gone in SVN trunk, so this bug as
reported seems unlikely to be fixed at this point.  And after a short
discussion with Ron, we've decided it makes sense to remove pyshell from the
package, since pycrust is also in there which has similar functionality but
is actually more actively maintained.

However pycrust suffers from exactly the same issue as reported here!  I've
commented on the upstream bug to point this out.
