[Freewx-maint] Bug#702378: Patch fixes problem

Works good Olly. I tested American, Australian, Hebrew, Japanese, and
Kazakh, in utf8, iso88591, and some native character sets, rk1048 and
eucjp, and iso88598.

I've included the resulting ps files of the tests I ran.
