amd64 can run ia32 code "natively", but I recall that ia64 has some sort of
emulation layer for ia32. I don't know how it works or how to activate it,
although it's certainly not working in merulo.d.o.

A lot. Untill we have a section in the Debian archive, we'll put everything
there, and after that it will serve for packages that need hacks and so
(such as like the old APT dir in alpha.gnu.org/gnu/hurd).

Additionaly, since the APT archive in alpha.gnu.org is dead (and won't be
recovered), we could put i386-gnu packages there, too.

Perhaps it's better to use the UAB network. That way if we are to drown
something they have plenty of calerons to back it up ;).

Another alternative if the UPC, but this takes much more bureoucracy work,
methinks.
