I also written my own version of the script, committed in the SVN
as debian2.sh. The main differences are:
- the sysdeps are packaged in a .dpatch file. This make possible to
  create a Debian source package. I also think the Debian glibc guy
  will prefer a dpatch file than a .bz2 file
- it only uses some subparts of the headers instead of /usr/include,
  that will probably help for some headers, because if the glibc
  script already found a header, they copy it instead of providing
  the glibc one.
- tls is enabled.

I'll have a look at the DNS problem, that's probably the same as in
the glibc 2.3.
