IMO Christoph, you should be running your own nameservers and nix the
'*' in your RR for the .gopher zonefile. If you don't have your own then
zoneedit.com servers will work fine for this - I've been using them for
over a decade for just this purpose obo many clients.

This way you can serve your own zone, manage your own 3LDs, and still
make use of the '*' for any 3LDs that don't exist anyway.

It's just the proper way to do it.
