[gopher] Calling scripts from Gopher

Hi all,

After rediscovering Gopherspace after several decades and setting up 
a Bucktooth server in a Raspberry Pi, I'm canvassing opinions as to the
desirability of writing and deploying scripts to be called using an 
itemtype 7 - Search. 

I'm well aware of the security implications of "bending" the original spec 
in this way, but what I'm trying to achieve is a relatively simple database 
lookup to query a database on another machine and return the result as 
a gopher-friendly stream.

What are your thoughts please?
