Hi Vincent - Consider posting to comp.infosystems.gopher on Usenet as well.  There's some overlap between this mailing list and the Usenet group, but it's not 100% overlap.  And anyway, posting to Usenet about Gopher seems "right" somehow.

Java has earned a bad reputation for good reasons, but I doubt anyone interested in getting into gopherspace will care.  Jedit is a java-based text editor with huge popularity; it's one of the first things I install on a new machine.

Your project sounds like an interesting one.  It will certainly bring gopherspace to many users, and probably be a fun project in the meantime.  Good luck with it!
