initng

Hello list!

I've just subscribed to this mailing list since I'm ITPer of initng
package. I read whole archives since July and seems you have very
interesting ideas for new init mechanism in Debian. (especially remote
dependencies seems to be great idea, and solution for real life
situtations).

However all ideas seem to have long way before they'll be implemented,
and this way we still have old init mechanism in Debian without easy way to
test new solutions.

I asked yesterday on my blog if someone would be interested in initng in
experimental distribution, cause it seems it's mature enough to be widely
tested, and I think experimental is right place for such things.
There were some comments[1] from users which would be happy to see such
package.

After I filled my ITP I found that Armin Berres <a.berres at onlinehome.de>,
maintains initng package too, and he will be probably a main maintainer,
and I'll be a sponsor.

Yesterday Martin Krafft asked me on irc to consult here first whatever
actions I'm going to make. I personally think that having initng
in experimental distribution won't conflict with the aims of this alioth
project, and due to wider audience will help authors to catch up Debian
specific issues sooner, thus make initng more fit for Debian in the future.

In fact we've got already runit in unstable, so I see no reason to exclude
another similar package especially in experimental distribution.
If there won't be objections I'll upload Armin's package.
Comments appreciated.

regards
fEnIo
