The problem still exists so it seems.

Upgrading python-acme removes letsencrypt in debian jessie backports.

apt-get install python-acme
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
   letsencrypt python-letsencrypt python-letsencrypt-apache
The following packages will be upgraded:
   python-acme
1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 3 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 54.6 kB of archives.
After this operation, 1,065 kB disk space will be freed.
