Hi,

please note that I am not the maintainer of the package, I am just
trying to add value to the bug report as I have stumbled upon a
similiar issue in my letsencrypt.sh installation.

It would probably be a good idea to submit this upstream, so that all
users of letsencrypt.sh - even those outside of Debian - can profit
off it. This would also save you from the discussion with distribution
maintainers.

The documentation of the entire hook mechanism is a bit on the terse
side as well, one could take the opportunity to submit improvements
for those as well.

Greetings
Marc
