Hi everyone,

I've found time over the new year to set up a project on Alioth
https://alioth.debian.org/projects/lockdev/
to create an official "upstream" project with mailing list and
VCS repository.

It has a new mailing list
https://alioth.debian.org/mail/?group_id=100443
to which you should be receiving an invitation to join. If you
don't get one shortly, you can subscribe using the above page.

You may also add yourself as an Alioth user and join the
project to gain direct commit access to the git repo. Note
there isn't yet a repository (see below).

A request: in order to create an initial git repository containing
the changes to date, I would like to get as complete a picture of
the history as possible. Unfortuately, I only have a few upstream
releases:

0.9a, 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2 and 1.0.3

(Debian 0.9a, 1.0.0, 1.0.1-4, 1.0.1-5.1, 1.0.1-6, 1.0.1-7, 1.0.2-1,
1.0.3-1, 1.0.3-1.1 and 1.0.3-1.2)

Unfortunately, Fabrizio Polacco who was the original author and
Debian maintainer of the package (unless there was non-Debian
history prior to 1997) passed away in 2001. It's possible that
if the early history is simply no longer available, in which case
the five upstream releases we have got will have to suffice.

Once any further history (if any) becomes available over the next
few weeks, I'll import the whole lot into a git repo. We should
then be able to import any additional history, including any
RedHat and SUSE patches and apply them to the mainline. If there's
a complete or nearly-complete history of Redhat and SUSE releases,
I'll be able to import them at the same time.

If you would like to participate further, please could you subscribe
to the list, so we can continue discussion on the list?

Regards,
Roger
