That's not a bad point; I've therefore just removed the three (useless)
bashisms as reported by checkbashisms.
I haven't touched the shebang (#!) line, however, and I doubt anyone is
likely to in the near future. There's no way to know for certain
whether or not logcheck is POSIX compliant, and there would be no
noticeable gains on Debian anyway.
(For what it's worth, it appears to run just fine under dash.)
