Initial Comment:
the attached patch is a diff between QNAP NUT version (2.2.2) and a vanilla 2.2.2.

Part of the 11 mods, WRT the current trunk:

1) clients/upsc.c: 

- can be addressed with the new upscli_tryconnect(..., timeout).
- upsc need a new option "-t timeout"

2) conf/qnap/*

- use an admin user for monitoring!!
- nothing else apart from the need to provide a migration script (from ACL/ACCEPT/REJECT to LISTEN + tcp wrappers)
- to be discarded

3) drivers/apc-hid.c

- productid 0x0003 added in trunk at 2459 (2010-06-25)
- better handling in trunk than in QNap (interrupt pipe disabling)
- to be discarded

4) drivers/cps-hid.c

- productid 0x0601 added in trunk at 1932 (2009-08-15)
- to be discarded

5) drivers/libusb.c

- USB_TIMEOUT is also set to 4000 (4 seconds) in the current trunk
- to be discarded

6) drivers/powercom.ch, drivers/upscode2.c

- RCS ids lines, removed with trunk at 3743 (2012-10-10)
- to be discarded

Conclusion)

Only point (1) needs to be addressed!
