I indeed would be happy to help.

Best, IMO, is to use git-buildpackage inside a team. The best solution I
can provide is that you join the OpenStack packaging team, and package
RabbitMQ from there, if you are ok with that. I can then sponsor any
upload that you may need. If you don't know git packaging, I can teach
you that: it's not very hard.

FYI, I don't know rabbitmq too much myself, I'm just a user (because
OpenStack needs it), though I know packaging extensively.
