Bug#578274: pbuilder: Cannot create tarball due to cdebootstrap-helper-apt

I cannot create the tarball, as directed on
http://piuparts.debian.org/doc/README.html, section 3.2.

The error message after I issue:
$ pbuilder create --debug --mirror ftp://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian
--logfile logfile.log

ends with:

The destination is an external USB-disc, ext3 formatted (/dev/sda1)
