Agreed. Especially since this is a bug against pbuilder, not sbuild. I'm
not interested in trolling for one solution or another, this is not the
correct place for that.

Having to manually build the source package before is pretty painful,
especially when you actually use pbuilder from another tool (like
svn-buildpackage). 

In the end, I've added -s to DEBBBUILDOPTS in .pbuilderrc, which fixes
the problem for me.
