I'll start at once with that issue. ACE is now prio1 on my TODO list.

I did not count the number of generated GNUmakefiles but there are many.
Those GNUmakefiles are also not too small. I think they consume a lot.

Yes, until we have -dbg packages. I prefer to have ACE packages with
debug information instead of need to recompile ACE again for development
purposes later.
I think we need support for -dbg packages.

Yes. I tried to test my MPC modifications with all options I know.
