I am busy, too, but yes, I may be able to help.

I tried to package ACE 5.6.9 but I receive an error about files not
being used in any package due to new classes having been introduced
since ACE 5.6.3.

You can download the full log from

(still incomplete) packaging from
http://www.elpauer.org/tmp/ace/ace_5.6.9-0.1~hardy~pgquiles1.dsc (that
name is because I was packaging it for private use for Ubuntu Hardy,
it should be ace_5.6.9-1.dsc ).

The interesting part of the log is this, the files not being installed
to any package (read on for my suggestions) :

* libtao-ziop-{1.6.9,dev}

And libTAO_CosTime_Serv, libTAO_CosTime_Skel and
libTAOCosLifeCycle_Skel should go to libtao-orbsvcs-{5.6.9,dev}

Also, maybe libACE_ETCL_Parser should go to the libace-etcl packages,
to minimize the number of packages.
