What's wrong about it? I must confess I don't really understand it but
the change was meant for cases where you may have, for instance, ACE
5.6.3-3 instead of 5.6.3-4 and you are now upgrading to 5.7.4-1 :-?

I "inherited" it from ACE, see below.

Yes, that's because I took the 'debianbuild' directory from ACE 5.7.4
instead of the debian packaging for 5.6.3-5. Totally wrong, as I have
seen today, because the 'debianbuild' in ACE 5.7.4 seems to be from an
older Debian package.

I will rebase my work against the current 5.6.3 branch and commit as
soon as I can (which will probably be this Tuesday)
