IMHO that's like saying ACE packages for GNU/kFreeBSD and GNU/Hurd
will no longer be available.

As I said in my former mail, I think kFreeBSD would be doable. I could
certainly use some help from a kFreeBSD hacker here, though: I know
Linux, I know FreeBSD, but I don't really know the differences between
those and kFreeBSD, if any. AFAIK kFreeBSD is FreeBSD kernel (i. e.
system calls, etc) but with GNU libc6 and userland, right?

As for Hurd... well, when we have ACE packages for Linux and kFreeBSD,
we'll see. Maybe we will end up contributing a config-hurd.h and
platform file for Hurd to ACE :-)

So, no that we have effectively killed our painful experience with
autotools, who is going to step in and start with the traditional
build system? I won't be able to help until March. Maybe converting
5.6.3-6 from autotools to the traditional build system would be a good
starter (it's something we already know and have fully packaged, it
will make easier finding the impedances between autotools and
traditional). Next, we can move to 5.7.6 (or, more probably, 5.7.7 by
then).

By the way, we did not solve the problem with the huge documentation
packages. IIRC, we were going to remove the search function.
