There's a set of solutions, all with advantages and drawbacks.
It depends a little bit on the use case of OC. For closed user groups the most 
simple way would be to use the /etc/hosts feature which is already there. But 
obviously, that's not very flexible ;) but as I said there are other possible 
solutions.
Anyway, the change of HS keys will for sure not kill OnionCat ;)
