Please, check (i.e., with debsums, as suggested above) - the problem
does not appear to occur with transition etch -> lenny for unmodified etch's
package.  Also, be sure, you use /usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl (i.e.,
etch's version of awstats.pl is not somewhere in your $PATH).
