Well, there is the sqlite db which would have to 
* store the assignment of the pacakges
* be distributed between the build efforts of CRAN and BioC
but we have not addressed using it for this purpose yet in the first place.

Hm. Go ahead. I for my part am rather interested in the moment to get the 
dependencies recognised better to allow also the removal of packages from the 
system.

My personal vision is that the autogenerated packages become that 
sophisticated, that these are not distinguishable from the manually 
maintained ones. A package maintainer would then basically verify and submit 
the autobuilt packages.

Not me. Do you happen to come close to Hamburg/Luebeck in any forseeable 
future? Another reader of this mailing list is not too remote of yours in 
Bremen.
