[pkg-bioc] Questions before breaking everything...

Dear David,

I can build with anything, so I do not care so much, except that I feel the
time for pbuilder builds to be considerably longer than for sudo. If you
could perform a dynamic addition and removal of the packages while leaving
the base system installed, buildd like, then this would help much, I think.

In an off-list discussion with Dirk, I was made aware of a new policy change
that changes the upstream package version from R's x.y-z to Debian's full
version string x.y-z_0.r2d.1 rather than today's x.y.z_0.r2d.1. This has a
dramatic impact on any of us who have x.y.z_0.r2d.1 packages installed
anywhere since these will not be automatically updated to x.y-(z+1)_0.r2d.1.
Actually, my problem in this respect arose when a student said she could no
longer program with RMySQL because of the outdated DBI package .... and this
was not on my Debian packaging machine :o)

I agree to your change, David. My main concern is on the versioning at the
moment.... and I have kind of a love'n'hate relationship with our ugly
duckling 'cran2deb.pl'....which actually does what it is supposed to do.

Cheers,

Steffen
