Hello,
I came across this one
Preparing to replace boinc-client 5.10.8-2
(using .../boinc-client_5.10.27-1_i386.deb) ...
* BOINC data directory '/var/lib/boinc-client' does not exist.
invoke-rc.d: initscript boinc-client, action "stop" failed.
dpkg: warning - old pre-removal script returned error exit status 6
dpkg - trying script from the new package instead ...
* BOINC data directory '/var/lib/boinc-client' does not exist.
invoke-rc.d: initscript boinc-client, action "stop" failed.
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/boinc-client_5.10.27-1_i386.deb
(--unpack):
subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 6
* BOINC data directory '/var/lib/boinc-client' does not exist.
invoke-rc.d: initscript boinc-client, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error while cleaning up:
after I had (stupidly) removed the directory the /var/lib/boinc symlinked to
and attempted an update of boinc-client.
Neither boinc-client nor boinc-manager could be dpkg-removed or apt-get
updateded until I recreated the target directory.
It is not a bug of the client, probably. The only other possible behaviour I
see is to remove the symlink and recreate a new /var/lib/boinc-client
instead. I cannot tell if this is fully correct either, though.
Cheers,
Steffen
