I originally was against supporting both, but the differences between
the two has grown larger now that each has written their own separate
support of ASIC hardware. I think supporting both is ok if we can
clearly document the differences so users understand which of the two
would work better for their needs, like Dmitry said. For example,
cgminer dropped all cpumining code but bfgminer still has it; bfgminer
supports GBT (I don't think cgminer does); each has their own drivers
for Avalons and BFL SCs. If someone is willing to step up to maintain
the package and justify why there should be two very similar mining
packages, I wouldn't be against it.
