We disagree. :) By definition cgminer 3.7.2 became a "second grade"
software since upstream maintainer dropped the very functionality that
you need.

We have neither interest nor resources to maintain old version of
cgminer that upstream himself declared as "unmaintained".

Perhaps not in every way but regarding GPU mining bfgminer it
certainly better.

Although there are lot of similarities between cgminer and bfgminer
(they have common ancestor) at this time the reason to have both
packages might be to support broader range of mining devices.

Initially I introduced cgminer because I was not aware of bfgminer.
Now I tend to think that it was a mistake but last time I checked
cgminer had support for some devices that bfgminer don't recognise
yet.
