Hmm, the last ubuntu versions were based on our CVS, so I just took the
liberty to throw 2.44-1 at the buildds for now as I'm afraid I won't
have the time for any further coordination at the moment. :(

@all, please test the new upload. I didn't notice anything unusual so
far, but you never know ...
Any improvements, including any from ubuntu, can be easily included in
-2. But right now an update finally hits unstable. :)
