Because of leftovers here, I used to think you were right, but bpydata
(under scripts/) actually points to ../bpydata. Rationale for this is
that (contrary to bpymodules) these files should be writable, that's why
I'm not symlinking to /usr/share/…, but rather copying them from there
to ~/.blender/bpydata when there's a new upstream version, eventually
creating a backup in ~/.blender/bpydata-$(VERSION) if needed.

I feared (in my first answer) than it could be possible to have a link
from ~/.blender/bpydata/bpydata to the parent directory, but I haven't
been able to reproduce it with the upgrade tests I've just made,
upgrading from 2.45-1 to 2.45-3 directly, or with an intermediate step
with 2.45-2.

Do you have such a recursive symlink, or was it just an impression you
initially had?
