No problem.
I've committed the changes I detailed in the previous mails, and it
looks like upgrading from 2.45-1 or from 2.45-2 to 2.45-3 is quite
transparent, and that scripts are OK. I'm at least able to export
(basic) 3DS files out of the box, and then re-import them later.
Florian, could you please review the patchset since 2.45-2 (currently
240748cec0…) and eventually upload the package? It'd be great to fix
both #463162 and #462949 before -2 reaches testing (currently, blender
is 6 of 10 days old).
