Hi,

The reason those folk who cannot make their local machines discoverable is 
probably as they are issuing:
# hciconfig hci0 pscan
# hciconfig hci0 iscan

which first sets the hci0 device to pscan mode and then iscan mode, so the 
final mode is iscan.  What they should be doing is:

# hciconfig hci0 piscan

As for how to get hcid to behave and properly configure the interface, its 
not a quick fix from what I can tell....over to 'upstream' to deal with :)
