I have not tested it thorougly enough, but it looks good enough to me.
I was also looking to sponsor it. 

Also, as it needs to go through NEW, the sooner it gets uploaded, the
sooner it hist the archive and can be tested in a more RL environment.

I'd say: "Go for it" (ASAP!). It is surely is good enough for, at least,
experimental anyway, and so are the rest of the tools.
