[Pkg-bluetooth-maintainers] Bluetooth Status in Lenny

I've tried installing the current bluez-utils, bluez-compat and bluetooth
packages from lenny including backports, but I don't seem to have all of the
configuration files that are mentioned in online documentation. I suspect
that the currently available files may not be complete, and that while an
original lenny installation that was upgraded to the current files might
work, a fresh install doesn't.
kbluetooth is greyed out, as are all options except "Quit"
(including "Configure"). I can place the bluetooth USB dongle in
discoverable mode with hciconfig piscan. My bluetooth phone can then see it,
but when I try to pair it asks for a pin. "1234", cited in some docs as the
default pin, does not work, placing a number in /etc/bluetooth/pin does not
work.
(I also notice that no bluetooth app has been included in squeeze's kde.)
If there is documentation on the current program set I haven't found it but
would appreciate a clue.
