Hi

As far as I can tell, BOOST_ROOT is only for packages which require the
boost sources (not just the library or development installation)

So whatever they are trying to build doesn't depend on liboost, it depends
on the boost source package.
e.g.
$ cd /usr/local/src
$ apt-get source boost

Then they can set BOOST_ROOT to wherever they installed the source package (
e.g. /usr/local/src)

Am I correct?
