As an aside, what I've done with regina-normal (which also uses
boost.python) is make debian/rules check the config.log immediately
after configure finishes, to see whether it plans to build in
boost.python or not.  This means it can detect the problem (and abort
accordingly) at the beginning of the build, which could be useful
if kdeedu still takes as long to build as I remember it used to. :)
