[pkg-boost-devel] boostbook, quickbook and boost inspect tool

Hi,

I'm a Ubuntu user and I've noticed that neither Ubuntu nor Debian
contain packages of the very useful three boost tools mentioned in the
subject.

For Ubuntu, I've posted bugreports tagged for Debian at

https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/boost1.35/+bug/239670
https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/boost1.35/+bug/258121

(First for quickbook and boostbook, as I wasn't sure if one
"libboost-doc-dev" or so package or two separate ones would be a good
idea; second for inspect)
All three tools are part of the boost1.35 (or boost, optionally) source
package.

Boostbook is essentially just a set of XSL files; docs on setup are at
http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_36_0/doc/html/boostbook/getting/started.html

Quickbook needs to be built using the boost build system, as described
at
http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_36_0/tools/quickbook/doc/html/quickbook/install/linux.html

The boost inspect tool docs are at
http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_36_0/tools/inspect/index.html

Unfortunately, I'm a complete packaging newbie and the boost1.35 source
package seems a bit complex for a start; anyway, under some guidance,
I'd be glad to help out where I can.

(I have in the past tried to roll out a Gentoo ebuild for boost 1.33
that provides build options for boostbook and quickbook, which might
give some hint about what is needed, but as it wasn't ever accepted into
Gentoo, I don't know if it's clean enough.

They did, however, add a 'tools' useflag in later versions which would
just build everything in the tools directory.
