Package: chromium
Version: 55.0.2883.75-2
Followup-For: Bug #841401

Disabling extension updates seems like a pretty horrible decision,
especially without informing the user.

If you're going to do this, then you should remove the ability to INSTALL
extensions in the first place.

Now I can't update extensions without uninstalling them, which erases their
settings generally. If an extension is broken due to server side changes,
I'm screwed. If an extension has a security issue that has been fixed, I'm
screwed. If I want bug fixes or new features, I'm screwed.

None of the other browsers package for Debian have such a patch applied, why
is chromium "special"?

<rant>
If someone is this hyper-paranoid, why are they running a browser like
Chrom(e/ium) in the first place? It is /full/ of phone home features and
the like. Turning off extension auto updating seems like shooting yourself
in the foot because the horse has already left the barn and crossed several
state lines.
</rant>

But seriously, this is a huge PITA, and a potential security problem IMO.
