[Pkg-chromium-maint] Bug#844353: chromium: Crash right after start

Package: chromium
Version: 53.0.2785.143-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I did a fresh installation with hand-picked packages (basically gnome-shell) via aptitude. (dependency-chain: gnome-shell -> gnome-control-center -> gnome-user-share -> apache2-bin -> www-browser -> chromium)

In GDM3 I selected Gnome on Wayland.

Upon starting chromium it closes itself when I interact with the window, directly (using address-bar) or indirectly (changing window-focus), in any way.

When starting chromium from terminal, I see the following output:

$ chromium
[14489:14489:1114/182505:ERROR:browser_main_loop.cc(261)] <unknown>: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-wEYF2rJkoO: Connection refused
Segmentation fault

The dbus-error is shown while the chromium-window is still present.

The segmentation fault is shown right after the chromium-window closes.

Removing ~/.conf/chromium/ does NOT resolve this issue. (obviously, as this is a fresh installation)

This problem is NOT hardware-related, because a fresh installation with full Gnome desktop task from the installer is not affected by this problem, using Gnome on Wayland.

Regards,

Robin van Westrenen-Broekmans
