Are you sure your bug report is about widevine?
widevine isn't an extension but a plugin.
You can check if it's loaded by typing "navigator.plugins" into the inspector console.

FWIW widevine with chromium 57.0.2987.133-1 is working fine for me.

Note: This package only provides the adapter.
You still need to put the widevine drm module from chrome into /usr/lib/chromium/libwidevinecdm.so
