In recent versions the flag --media-router=0 introduced with fix for bug 
#833477 is no longer valid and the old chromecast plugin is not usable 
in any case.
If the flag load media router component extension is enabled, and 
compatible devices are located on the LAN, it produces a crash shortly 
after startup with no useful backtrace. To work around, one must start 
without extensions, or with the LAN connection disabled and disable the 
media router component extension. Of course, then media router cannot be 
used. The issue appears to be the same as in the linked Ubuntu bug 
report, which also includes a fix:
