This sounds pretty bad, I'm sorry that you had to deal with this. Do you 
remember if you were using an addon plugin or any other special configuration?

The interfaces that are available to the plugins are not always maintained 
from a major version to another (2.4 to 2.6).

Unless you know what your settings were it's extremely unlikely that we will 
be able to sort this bug.
