IIRC the other major reason was that the SBCL maintainer was Peter
alone. Now that SBCL is under team maintenance [1][2] everyone can step
in and help :-D

Given what I wrote above about team maintenance and if Peter agrees, do
you want to join the Debian Common Lisp Team [1] and take care of SBCL
for mips and mipsel? Obviously, you can help with other things, too.
