I'm definitely here to stay for powerpc. I've fixed ghci and worked on several other compilers that were broken on powerpc (just in the past few weeks).
I've confirmed this working on Ubuntu powerpc. Adam Conrad is currently looking to bootstrap for Ubuntu quantal powerpc, we just wanted to have this in Debian too, so we can make sure we aren't off-by-one on debian/control.
