If you have e.g. a PostScript printer, it is usually not necessary.
For drivers which do require it, such as cupsys-driver-gutenprint, I
would be willing to add a strict Depends there, which should be a bit
more user-friendly.
For cupsys, it might be worth splitting out the standard
(non-postscript) drivers into a separate package, which can also have
a Depends on gs-esp. This would mean the core could be installed with
no problems, and just leave gs-esp as a Recommends.
If this is desirable, I'll be willing to add the dependency to
cupsys-driver-gutenprint.
