[Pkg-cups-devel] Bug#376499: cupsys: Cancelling configuration of package leaves CUPS inoperable

Package: cupsys
Version: 1.2.1-3
Severity: important

If I press cancel while the package's debconf configuration is running
(or interrupt the invocation of dpkg-reconfigure with ctrl+c) then CUPS
is left in a rather bad state.

First, the server isn't running. Second, there are no symlinks in
/usr/lib/cupsys/backend. This means that when I start the server and
print something, cupsys proceeds to chew 100% of my CPU, while spamming
the following message to error_log hundreds of times per second:

E [03/Jul/2006:12:01:31 +0100] PID 27922 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp) stopped with status 22!
E [03/Jul/2006:12:01:31 +0100] PID 27923 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp) stopped with status 22!
E [03/Jul/2006:12:01:31 +0100] PID 27924 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp) stopped with status 22!
E [03/Jul/2006:12:01:31 +0100] PID 27925 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp) stopped with status 22!
E [03/Jul/2006:12:01:31 +0100] PID 27926 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp) stopped with status 22!
E [03/Jul/2006:12:01:31 +0100] PID 27927 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp) stopped with status 22!
E [03/Jul/2006:12:01:31 +0100] PID 27928 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp) stopped with status 22!

Reconfiguring cupsys again and completing the process restores cupsys to
a working condition.
