You haven't told us how the printer is connected.  Is is parallel,
USB, serial, or something else?  Is the correct device driver for the
device loaded?

Please provide the relevant entry in your /etc/cups/printers.conf.

If you set LogLevel to debug in your cupsd.conf, and retry, the
error_log in /var/log/cups should provide more information about why
it is failing.
