Package: cupsys
Version: 1.2.2-1
Severity: important
Well I see I'm not the only person having issues with v1.2, but cannot find
any answers to my problem. I've help off reporting for a long time, but not
being able to print is a hastle-I'm applying for jobs. I regularly update
Debian,
and have tried all the 1.2
series versions, including those only just in unstable, no help. With 1.2.2-1
and supplied config file I get in /var/log/cups/error_log:
E [30/Jul/2006:18:09:20 +0100] Creating missing directory
"/var/run/cups/certs"
E [30/Jul/2006:18:09:20 +0100] Unable to bind socket for address
127.0.0.1:631 - Cannot assign requested address.
E [30/Jul/2006:18:09:25 +0100] Unable to bind socket for address
127.0.0.1:631 - Cannot assign requested address.
E [30/Jul/2006:18:09:36 +0100] Unable to bind socket for address
127.0.0.1:631 - Cannot assign requested address.
Trying to connect to http://localhost:631 or same with https or 127.0.0.1
either times out or gives cannot find host error.
I've read a lot of other posts, and tried various changes to
/etc/cups/cupsd.conf including commenting out Listen /var/run/cups/cups.sock,
Encryption Required, using 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost, also tried logging
into the web admin pages using ip6-localhost:631 as one poster suggested.
The problem isn't caused by firestarter firewall, used to work before cups
1.2.
KDE cannot connect to the cups server either, unsurprisingly in my case.
Nothing else is using port 631 I've checked.
I give up, and reluctantly add to your long list of bugs, and hope for some
progress.
Thanks.
Arthur
