[Pkg-cups-devel] Bug#504774: cups: Bundled Brother HL-1430 Driver Does Not Print

The default driver included with Debian Lenny for the Brother HL-1430 
fails to print, though the driver appears to install correctly.

Upon printing, the print job gets sent off to the gnome print queue and the 
particular job is described as 'processing'. The data light on the 
printer itself blinks for some time, but finally stops without printing 
anything. The job in the gnome print queue is then marked as completed.

A temporary work-around (and a confirmation that the problem is the 
driver) is simply by installing the driver provided here:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Brother-HL-1430

This has worked in previous versions of Debian, and appears to be a 
regression.

**Apologies if this isn't the appropriate package to file against; I 
can't find the CUPS package that specifically installs the bundled
driver repository.**
