Do you still have the problem with current Debian unstable?

The strace doesn't tell me much, I'm afraid. If cupsd still crashes,
please try the following (as root):

  apt-get install cups-dbg
  /etc/init.d/cups stop
  gdb --args cupsd -f
  (gdb)# run

Now try to print something. This should crash cupsd in gdb. Do "bt
full" and send the output, please.
