The problem was very easy to reproduce, as explained in the bug log:
you just need duplicate entries in printers.conf. One colleague of
mine (François Aleno) even provided a printers.conf file that was
causing daily crashes:

So, if someone takes this file, puts it in /etc/cups, and tries
running the daily cron that restart cups....without it crashing, I
think the bug can be considered as being fixed.
